Rickey Dale Woods

Rickey Dale Woods 57, of Elkmont, AL died Friday, February 7, 2020 in Athens, Alabama. Born Tuesday, April 10, 1962 in Huntsville, AL, he was the son of James Samuel Woods and Lillie Bea Woods. Rickey was a loving husband, proud father & grandfather, and good friend to many. He had an early interest in racing and rode his bike to help his friend, Dean Bentley on his race car. His love of racing led him to begin scoring races. He was head Scorer at Huntsville Speedway for over 25 years. While working at Pulaski speedway for Gary Finley in 1987, he met Tina Beverly and they married in March 1988. Together they traveled with Southern All Stars Racing Series, worked many local tracks (North Alabama Speedway, Moulton Speedway, Winchester Speedway, South Alabama Speedway) and many Georgia tracks as well. Rickey was Operations Manager at Aldridge Industries for over 20 years. He worked there with Warren & Tim Aldridge who he loved as brothers. In 2007, he had the bright idea to open an athletic store and nothing would stop him. Ardmore Athletics & More was born. The name of the store was carefully chosen using the first letter of all three kids names-A A M. As the owner of Ardmore Athletics & More, he had may employees who he greatly depended on but none more than Angela Rogers, also a niece. But his greatest pride and joy are his children, Ashley, Allison, and Matthew. Each of them are unique in their own way, although they all are spoiled by his great love for them. Makynzie, his first grandchild, loved her Pop Pop and together they cheered for Joey Logano, their favorite NASCAR driver. Case Fields, his soon to be first grandson, is already loved from heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Larry Joe Woods and James Wilson Woods. Rickey is survived by his wife, Tina Lynne Woods, Elkmont, AL, son, Matthew "Spike" Woods; daughters, Ashley (Zachary) Carter and Allison "Alley" (Justin) Fields; brothers, Ray (Donna) Woods and James (Kim) Woods; sisters, Brenda (Jerry) Posey and Snook (Ed) Imler; granddaughter, Makynzie Carter; grandson on the way, Case Fields; father and mother-in -law, Pee Wee and Janie Beverly; brother-in-law, Tim (Pat) Beverly; host of special nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2020 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, AL, at 2:00 PM with Bro. Jeff Bennett officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Athens, AL.
