Obituary for William 'Doc' Oliver

William 'Doc' Oliver, 75 of Ardmore, Alabama died on Monday, August 20, 2012, at Athens-Limestone Hospital in Athens, Alabama. Born Tuesday, September 22, 1936 in Pulaski, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Cary Oliver and the late Eugenia Kirkland Oliver. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and was Ardmore Chief of Police for 34 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Cary Jr., Eugene, and Douglas Oliver and a step-son: Barry R. Brazier. Surviving are his wife: Doris Oliver of Ardmore, AL, daughters, Connie (Tim) Pierce, Vickie (Mike) Griggs and Christy (Bob) Dunnavant, sister, Marie (Alva Gene) Lineburger, grandchildren: Courtney and Corey Pierce, Trea and Zack Dunnavant, Billy Brazier, and Sherry Curry; great-grandchldren: Tori Brazier, Joe Curry, and Trip Pierce, sisterin- law: Linda Oliver, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 24, 2012, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Bro. Richard Garland, Bro. Alan Shedd, and Bro. Bob Dunnavant officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Pulaski, TN. Pallbearers will be Gary Daly, John Dickey, Kyle Helton, David Whitt Mike Blakely, Wayne Harper, Wayne Usery, Paul Van Manen. Honorary pallbearers are police officers. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, and from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
