Obituary for Terry 'Dwight' Brown

Terry 'Dwight' Brown, 60, of Huntsville, AL, passed away at Huntsville Hospital on January 4, 2013, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mr. Brown received a Bachelor's Degree at Athens State University and attended Alabama A & M University, where he received his Master's Degree in Elementary Education. He taught in the Madison County School System for 23 years, the majority of those years at Madison Cross Roads Elementary School, where he was dedicated to teaching and had a positive impact on students' lives. He retired from teaching in 2005. He was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Madison, AL. He was an avid hunter and dog trainer. He was preceded in death by his father, William McCoy Brown and his mother, Imogene Taft. Dwight was devoted to his wife, children, and family. He is survived by his wife: Mary Brown; children: Amber and Jeffery; step-father: Ray Taft of Ardmore, TN; brother: Derrell Brown and wife Eva; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 6, 2013, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, AL. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Father Steve Gruman and Rev. William Suddarth officiating. Burial will follow at Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL. Pallbearers will be Ethan Brown, Russell Denman, Allen Tinnon, Scotty Brown, Clay Combs, and Erik Uribe. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 786 Hughes Road, Madison, AL 35758.
