Obituary for Robert G. Dunnavant

Robert G. Dunnavant, 90, of Newman Road, Elkton, TN (Giles County), died Monday, March 14, 2005, at Maury Regional Hospital, Columbia, TN. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, March 16, at 2 p.m. at Elkton Baptist Church with Rev. William Suddarth and Rev. Dennis Cleveland officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Dunnavant Cemetery in Elkton with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge. Robert Gordon Dunnavant was born April 16, 1914, in Elkton, TN, to Sam Dunnavant and Lola Gordon Dunnavant. He lived all his life in the Elkton area and was a member of the Elkton Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air Corps. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Sam (Sammy) Campbell Dunnavant; a sister, Mary D. Chambers; and a brother, C.H. Dunnavant. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Annie Louise Campbell Dunnavant of Elkton, TN; three sons, Jimmy (Verna Jean) Dunnavant of Elkton, TN, Robert Gordon (Cathy) Dunnavant II of Elkton, TN, and Billy Wayne Rolin of Blytheville, AR; one daughter, Cecelia Ann Dunnavant (Larry) Hasting of Columbia, TN; one brother, Wendell Dunnavant of Tucson, AZ; one sister, Ione McNeese of Elkton, TN; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
