Obituary for Robert Bruce Flacy

Robert Bruce Flacy, 76, died Thursday, January 20,2005, after a courageous fight against Parkinson's Disease. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, January 25, at 1:00 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home. Burial was in the Prospect Cemetery in Prospect, TN, with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge. Robert Bruce Flacy was born January 5, 1929, in Monroe, LA. He graduated from Pensacola High School in Pensacola, FL in 1945. He entered Vanderbilt University School of Engineering in 1945 at the age of 16. He enlisted in the United States Navy on July 17, 1946, where he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, attended electronics school in Great Neck, IL, and served aboard the USS Mississippi. He received an honorable discharge on July 19, 1948. Flacy received a B.E. Electrical Engineering degree from Vanderbilt University in 1951 at age 22. He worked as an assistant product engineer, principal engineer, and research specialist in the fields of military defense and aeronautics and space. He retired from The Boeing Company in Huntsville, AL, in 1992. He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard Stephen Flacy and Eva Mae Masling Flacy of Pensacola, FL, and a sister, Mary Cordelia Flacy Southerland of North Carolina. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Margaret Ramona Murff Flacy; one daughter, Shara Ann Flacy of Ardmore; one son, Mark Adrian Flacy of Carrollton, TX; one brother, Millard Stephen Flacy, Jr. of Milton, FL; one sister, Martha Mae Flacy Lawrence of Jacksonville, FL.
