Malon Wales, 91, of North Wales Road, Elkmont, Alabama, died Sunday, August 18, 2002, at Athens-Limestone Hospital, Athens, Alabama.Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 21, 2002, at 2:00 P.M. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Billy McGregor and Phillip Owens officiating. Burial was in Hasting Cemetery with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Joey Wales, Donnie Pittman, Mike Eckstein, Mike Brock, Jarred Butler, Sam Biggerstaff, Matthew Wales, and Joshua Wales. Honorary Pallbearers were Marvin Wales and Alton Watkins.Mr. Wales was born June 5, 1911, in Elkmont, Alabama. He was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of Holland's Gin Church of Christ. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kathleen Vickers Wales.Survivors include two daughters, Janice Nichols and Kathy Bozee, both of Elkmont, Alabama; two sons, Stanley Wales of Athens, Alabama, and Joe Mack Wales of Ardmore, Alabama; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
