Obituary for Lee Whit McClure

Lee Whit McClure, 87, of Baugh Road, Elkton, Tennessee, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at his residence.Funeral Services were held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 22, 2004, at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. James Burrow and Rev. Dennis Cleveland officiating. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Dan livingston, Phillip McClure, John Paul McClure, Ben Bryan, Michael Bryan, and Ralph Taylor,Jr.Mr. McClure was born on April 7, 1917, in Huntland, Tennessee, to James Rufus McClure and Lizzie Mayes McClure. He was an electrician and a member of First Baptist Church of McBurg, Tennessee. He enjoyed singing in gospel quartets. He was a U.S. Marine and served as a tank commander at Guadalcanal during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Louise Collins McClure and a grandchild, Rebecca Michelle McClure.Survivors include two sons, Ronald (Diane) McClure of Huntsville, Alabama, and Wayne (Jane) McClure of Pulaski, Tennessee; two daughters, Linda (David) Livingston of New Market, Alabama, and Janice (Ron) Bryan of Elkton, Tennessee; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
