Obituary for Kenneth Yancy Mitchell

Kenneth Yancy Mitchell, 78 of Ardmore, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at his home in Ardmore, Tennessee.Born Saturday, April 2, 1932 in Cash Point, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Lummie Leo (Jack) Mitchell and the late Myrtle Velma Gatlin Mitchell.He was of the Methodist faith and a member of the American Legion Post 49, Athens, AL. He retired in April 1995 from Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Huntsville, AL.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Bud Mitchell, Howell Mitchell, Bill Mitchell, and Freddie Mitchell, and sisters: Rachel Rhodes, Berta Ladd, and Dorothy Spencer.Surviving are his wife: Nancy Forbes Mitchell of Ardmore, TN, sons, Yancy Mitchell of Ardmore, TN and Troy (Lisa) Mitchell of Ardmore, TN, two grandchildren: Zach Mitchell of Auburn, AL, and Maggie Mitchell of Ardmore, TN, brothers, Bobby Mitchell of Ardmore, AL, and Richard Mitchell of Salt Lake City, UT, and sisters, Connie Magnusson of Ardmore, AL, Nan Mealer of Elkmont, AL, Alice Scott of Ardmore, AL and Elizabeth Sawyer of Nashville, TN.Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM on Friday, September 17, 2010, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Sammy Brister officiating.Burial will be in Blanche Cemetery, Blanche, TN with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Everett Bailey, Berry Cook, Nicky Johnson, Bill Magnusson, Tim Magnusson, Haskel Mealer, Mark Mitchell, and Jay Thomas.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, September 16, 2010, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
