Obituary for John Allen Cribbs, Jr.

John Allen Cribbs, Jr. 81 died at his home on April 24, 2020. He had suffered various physical problems including his primary enemy multiple myeloma.

He was born in Jasper, FL, to John Allen Cribbs, Sr and Nora Mae Herndon Cribbs. He attended the Hamilton County Public Schools, the University of Florida where he received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and graduate school at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA where he was awarded his M.S.E.E.

He served 4 years as a U S Air Force Lieutenant, was employed for many years as a Research Engineer at the Georgia Tech Engineering Experiment Station. He retired and moved to Alabama where he was employed by Dynetics, Inc. He retired again and began his career as a jack-of-all-trades restoring a 100+ year-old Tennessee farm house.

John was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Rebecca Bryant of Elkton, TN and his step-grandson, Aaron Singley of Middlebury, FL.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Mary Louise Brevelle Cribbs; his daughter, Diana Lynn Burns (Mickey) of Keystone Heights, FL; his son, Michael Allen Cribbs,(Tina) of Ft. Myers, FL; step-daughter, Mary Elizabeth Singley (James) of Middleburg, FL; grandchildren, Jessica Lang of Fleming Island, FL, Cliff Burns of San Antonio, TX and Paul Cribbs of Ft. Myers, Fl; step-grandchildren, Kristen Wooden of Columbia, S.C., Taylor Singley of Middleburg, FL, Bryant Maddox of FL and Johnathan Pruett of GA; 5 great-grandchildren and 8 step-great grandchildren.

Family, friends, and professional colleagues will remember John as a very intelligent, well-read person, who knew a lot about a lot and was always willing to share his knowldge. Honest to a fault, generous with his time and compliments, great sense of humor, a lover of nature and his pets. John was a unique human being who was highly respected and deeply loved.

There will be a Graveside Ceremony at Boswell Cemetery, located on the family farm on Monday, April 27, 2020.
