Obituary for Jimmy Lee Bryant

Jimmy Lee Bryant, 64, of Highland Heights, Ardmore, Tennessee, died Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 16 at Ardmore First Baptist Church in Ardmore, AL, with the Rev. Sammy Brister and the Rev. Chris Barnett officiating. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery in Pulaski, Tennessee with Ardmore Chapel in charge. Pallbearers were Gearil Smith, Terry Fincher, Glen Rogers, Darrell Bryant, Mark Blackwell and Stan Smith.Jimmy was born October 2, 1944 in Ardmore, AL, to Ben Bryant and Mable Culps Bryant. He lived all his life in this area. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Ardmore First Baptist Church and Local 377 Plumbers and Steam Fitters. He was a devoted father and loving husband who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cameron Hope Rogers; his parents, siblings, Paul, Howard, Pauline, Clara Dean and Curtis Bryant; members of his adoptive family, Mildred Shelton, Wilburn, James, Robert and Donnie Rogers, and Katie Lee Coats. Memorials may be made in memory of Jimmy to Ardmore First Baptist Church Building Fund, 36670 5th Street, Ardmore, AL 35739, or your favorite charity. Survivors include his wife, Betty C. Bryant of Ardmore, TN; three sons, Gearil Rogers of Athens, Emory (Diane) Rogers of Ardmore, AL, and Brian "Bo" (Carolyn) Bryant of Ardmore, AL; two grandsons, Logan Rogers and Donny Rogers; two brothers, Billy (Shirley) Bryant of Elkmont, AL, David (Patricia) Bryant of Ardmore, AL; two sisters, Ruby (Bill) Blade of Ardmore, TN, Shirley Powell of Ardmore, AL; sister-in-law, Jeanne Eldredge of Ardmore, TN; his special adopted family, Woodrow (Mary) Rogers of Shelbyville, TN, Ruth Kurowski of Bartlesville, OK, Martha (James) Newton of Ardmore, AL, John W. (Jeanette) Rogers of Estill springs, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
