Obituary for James Lonnie Drummond

James Lonnie Drummond, 87, of 3rd Avenue East, Ardmore, AL, formerly of Hanceville, AL, died Friday, August 11, 2006, at his home. Funeral Services were held Sunday, August 13, at 1:00 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sammy Brister and Rev. Billy Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Shelton Grove Church Cemetery in Cullman County, AL.James Lonnie Drummond was born February 27, 1919, in Cullman County, AL, to Hubert Drummond and Catherine Harbison Drummond. He lived in Ardmore for approximately 14 years after coming from Hanceville. He was a member of Ardmore First Baptist Church, an Army veteran of WWII where he fought in eight major battles and received a silver star and three bronze stars, along with Distinguished Citations and other awards. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Herman, Dillard and Max Drummond; and a half brother, Larue Drummond. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jackson Drummond of Ardmore, AL; one son, Phillip Drummond of Ardmore, AL; a half brother, Billy Ray (Blanca) Drummond of Ecuador, South America; sister-in-law, Edith Drummond (T.J.) Pate of Bremen, AL; nieces, Shirley (David) Via of Indiana, Janet (Royce) Jean of Cullman County, AL, Marcia (Kevin) Tillman of Cullman County, AL; nephews, Maurice (Carolyn) Drummond of Cullman County, AL, and James Drummond of Cullman County, AL; and several great nieces and great nephews.
