Obituary for James Edward Jim" Lewter

James Edward "Jim" Lewter, 83, of West Hobbs Street, Athens, Alabama, died Friday, September 12, 2003, at Limestone Health Facility in Athens, Alabama. Funeral Services were held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 14, 2003, at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. John Smith officiating. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were David Wallace, Robby Burns, Eddie Lewter Josh Clifton, Daniel Gee, Greg Brady, and Erik Clark.Mr. Lewter was born in Lincoln COunty, Tennessee on September 24, 1919, to Alvie Lewter and Bertha Smith Lewter. He lived most of his life in this area. He drove a school bus for the Limestone County School System for 20 years. He was a member of Sand Springs Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a son, David Lewter. Survivors include his wife, Vera Worley Lewter of Athens, Alabama; six daughters, Nancy Elrod of Athens, Alabama, Pauline Brady of Elkmont, Alabama, Willa Mae Wilson of Harvest, Alabama, Fay Burns of Lynnville, Tennessee, Annie Clifton of Athens, Alabama, and Frieda Wallace of Elkmont, ALabama; 17 Grandchildren; and 15 Great-grandchildren.
