Obituary for J.O. Lewter

J.O. Lewter, 81, of Merlein Circle, Ardmore, Tennessee, died Sunday, February 9, 2003, at his residence. Funeral Services were held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 11, 2003, at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Sammy Brister, Youth Pastor Steve Hargrove, and Joy Lewter officiating. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.Mr. Lewter was born in Ardmore, Alabama on August 20, 1921, to the late Willie and Susie Hall Lewter. He was a lifelong resident of the Ardmore area. He was a member of Ardmore First Baptist CHurch and a retired manager for an L.P. Gas company. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Lewter. Survivors include his wife, Mattie Pearl Smith Lewter of Ardmore, Tennessee; one daughter, Martha Ann and husband Gary, Hargrove of Ardmore, Alabama; a Daughter-in-law, Joy Lewter of Chapel Hill, Tennessee; one sister Alma Lewter Coggin of Ardmore, Alabama; four grandchildren, Steve Hargrove of Ardmore, Alabama, Suzette Penland of Dallas, Texas, Wayne Lewter of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, and Andy Lewter of Maryville, Tennessee; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
