Obituary for Harry Gene Toone

Master Sergeant Harry Gene Toone US Army (Retired), age 86 of Douglasville, passed away, December 25, 2013. He was born on March 16, 1927 in Limestone County, AL son of the late Edger Toone and Myrtle Tillery Toone. He was a retired Master Sergeant, having served for nearly 27 years with the United States Army during World War II, the Korean conflict, and twice during the Vietnam War. He served as the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Instructor for the Cobb County School System at Pebblebrook and South Cobb High Schools, and also at McEachern High School and Columbus College. He was a Baptist by faith. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Audry May Ervin Toone (who was affectionately called “Pat”); brothers: Elbert Toone, Donald Toone, R.B. Toone, and Wendell Toone; sister: Bug Toone. Survivors are his daughter, Trina Morin of Douglasville; son and daughter-in-law, Keith J. and Tammy L. Toone of Carrollton; grandchildren: Kevin Toone and his wife, Jennifer Denney Toone, Shanna Walker, and Sean Luke Morin; great grandchildren: Hayden Glascow, Cade Walker, Audrey Toone, Emily Denney, and Ivy Denney; close nephew and niece: Rex and Shirley Toone of Alabama, and Dolores Schaffer of Nashville, TN. The Funeral Service in Georgia will be held Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 6:00 PM from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel in Douglasville with Full Military Honors. The family will receive friends at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 6:00-9:00 P.M. The Funeral Service in Alabama will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. CST from Ardmore Chapel, 27186 Main Street, Ardmore, Alabama 35739. The family will receive friends at Ardmore Chapel from 2:00 P.M. CST until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Ardmore, Alabama with Full Military Honors.
