Obituary for Glenn Everett Vaughn

Glenn Everett Vaughn, 87 of Ardmore, Alabama passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.Born Friday, September 12, 1924 in Etowah, Tennessee, he was the son of the late William David Vaughn and the late Annie Leah Nipper Vaughn. He was the husband of the late Thelma Burnett Vaughn.He lived around the Ardmore area most of his life. He was retired from the U.S. Army, serving in both WWII and the Korean Conflict where he received a Purple Heart Medal. He enjoyed golfing, tending to cattle and farming. He was a member of Mable Hill Baptist Church.Surviving are son, David (Vicky) Vaughn of Spring, TX, daughters, Karen Vaughn of Ardmore, TN, Ramona (Michael) Clark of Hazel Green, AL and Teresa (Robert) Hoover of Winston Salem, NC, sister, Mary Ruth Hubbard of Albertville, AL., 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and son, James W. Vaughn.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Clark officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
