Obituary for Gaylia Hall Jones White

Gaylia Hall Jones White, 84 of Ardmore, AL, died on Friday, April 20, 2012, in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Born Sunday, May 22, 1927 in Ardmore, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Odie D Jones and the late Alma Blanche Hall Jones. She was the wife of the late O.W. 'Billy' White. Gaylia was a lifelong resident of Ardmore and was a member of Ardmore First Baptist Church where she was a lifelong sunday school teacher. She held a Masters Degree in Education and taught in the Madison County School System. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma- an honorary teachers organization. She was a volunteer at the Ardmore Public Library and helped many individuals gain their US Citizenship. She volunteered her time and resources anywhere she could make a difference. She was a great inspiration to her family and friends. Surviving are son, Clifton A Tony White of Stone Mountain, GA, daughter-in-law, Jeanette D. White of Stone Mountain, GA, brother, Odie Wayne and wife Sue Jones of Knoxville, TN, two granddaughters: Jenny Rebecca White Howard and husband John Howard of Lilburn, GA and Julie Anne White Sanders and husband Adam Sanders of Tucker, GA, grandson: John David White and wife Holly of Grayson, GA, and two great-grandchildren: David Andrew Howard and Michael Anthony Howard. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Ardmore First Baptist Church with Bro. Sammy Brister officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL. Pallbearers will be Larry Wallace, Dan Dailey, James Shannon, Haskell Mealer, Bobby Mitchell, Gerald Smith, and Sonny Johnson. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, April 23, 2012, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation to the Ardmore Public Library.
