Obituary for Gayland Hargrave

Gayland Hargrave, 81, of Ardmore, Alabama, died on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Limestone Health Facility.
Born Wednesday, April 11, 1934 in Decatur, Alabama, he was the son of the late Harold Hargrave and the late Velma Clark Hargrave. He was a lifelong resident of the Ardmore area and was a member of the Ardmore Lions Club and Woodmen of the World. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church and at Cash Point Baptist Church. An avid University of Tennessee fan, he was a former educator and long-time business owner of Ardmore Lumber Co, and Plaza Paint & Hardware.
Surviving are his wife: Emma Lou Whitt Hargrave of Ardmore, AL, son, Michael Lavon (Verona) Hargrave of Toney, AL, daughter, Terry (Rick) Shannon of Ardmore, TN, sister, Peggy (Calvin) Holt of Taft, TN grandchildren: Adam (Dru) Shannon, step-grandson: Zachary Atchley, and two nieces: Lisa (Tony) Holt Hardiman of Taft, TN and Karen (Chris) Holt McNatt of Athens, AL.
Funeral service will be at 4:00 PM on Thursday at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama, with Bro. Alan Hughes and Bro. Lynn Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral.
