Obituary for Gayla Hastings Brown

Gayla Hastings Brown, 72 of Ardmore, Tennessee died on Monday, July 18, 2011, at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee.Born Thursday, October 6, 1938 in Prospect, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Roy Hastings and the late Bunia Whitt Hastings.She had lived most of her life in the Ardmore area and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She was a very good golfer and could cook like no one else. She also loved to work with flowers in her yard.She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gregory Alan Brown, and a step-son Edwin Lee Brown, Jr., brothers, Clayton, A.J., Glen, Punch, Billy, Ken, Joe, and Bobby Hastings, and a sister Anna Laura Reuter.Surviving are her loving husband of 56 years: Edwin "Ed" Brown of Ardmore, TN, daughter, Brenda Brown of Toney, AL, step-daughter, Nancy Rose Ann Brown Whitten of Interlochen, MI, brothers: Fred Hasting of Gurley, AL, Morris Hastings of Waterford, MI and Jerry Hastings of White Lake, MI., nine grandchildren: Audrey Kirby, Brian Adams, Dean Adams, Kathryn Adams, Brigette Hodges, Sean Edwin Cameron, the Rev. Gregory Alan Brown II, Carson Lee Brown, and Veronica Sue Broom; great-grandchildren: Liberty Kirby, Ruth Kirby, Owen Adams, Sophie Adams, Gregory Alan Brown III, Kennedy Hodges, Eli Hodges, Erica Matthews, Erin Matthews, Eric Matthews; one great-great-grandchild: Autumn Washington; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 22, 2011, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with The Rev. Gregory Alan Brown II, The Rev. Dr. Ray Stonecypher, and The Rev. Lynn Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
