Obituary for Dora Ellen Neece O'Neal

Dora Ellen Neece O'Neal, 80, passed away on November 10, 2013, at approximately 6:00 A.M. at her home on Hill Road, Ardmore, Tennessee. She has lived the past 41 years in the Blanche area of Lincoln County, Tennessee. She was diagnosed with colon cancer four months ago and enjoyed her short remaining time doing the things she most enjoyed- helping build children's toys that are donated to St. Jude's Children Hospital in Huntsville, AL. She was born September 17, 1933. She ws the daughter of Ollie B Neece and Vita Ora Hendrickson. She was preceded in death by her parents and an older brother Ollie B Neece, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Russell O'Neal of Blanche, TN; son Michael (Bonnie) O'Neal of Blanche, TN; and daughters: Peggy (Don) Franklin of Blanche, TN and Connie (Eric) Hodge of Delta, MO; and seven brothers and sisters: Dorothy Henson of Albertville, AL; Leroy (Peggy) Neece of Meridianville, AL, Angeline (Jim) Green of Knoxville, TN, Alpha (Norman) Stone of Ogden, UT, Peggy (Charles) Clark of Taft, TN, Joe (Wanda) Neece of Park City, TN, and Wayne (Barbara) Neece of Huntsville, AL. She is also lovingly survived by seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Grandchildren are Amy (Daniel) Beard of Blanche, TN, Julie Beard of Toney, AL, Carrie (Adam) Green of Odenville, AL, Jessica (Jason) Parks of Hazel Green, AL, and Conner, Jamie, and Adam Hodge of Delta, MO. Great-grandchildren are Levi, Faith, Gideon and Josiah Beard of Blanche, TN, Caleb and Leah Beard of Toney, AL, Daniel Green of Odenville, AL, and Elijah, Luke, and Teagan Parks of Hazel Green, AL. Dora Ellen O'Neal finished one year of Business School in Nashville, TN before taking on the responsibiliry of full time homemaker and mother. She succeeded admirably in both fields. She was married to Russell O'Neal April 5, 1952, in Nashville, TN by Dr. Clay I Hudson who was employed by the Baptist Sunday School Board. She has been a faithful worker in many capacities of the Baptist Church for over 61 years. She and her family lived in Nashville for 10 years; in Meridianville, AL for ten years, and in Lincoln County, TN near the Blanche area for 41 years. She enjoyed making children's toys, sewing, church activities, and community involvement. She very much enjoyed the benefit of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchldren. She always enjoyed seeing other people smile and have a good time. Visitation will be conducted at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in Ardmore, AL from 6 to 8 pm on Nobvember 11, 2013, with the funeral being conducted by Rev. Roger Berry at New Grove Baptist Church at 11 am on November 12, 2013, with burial at Blanche Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, great-grandchildren and spouses of granddaughters. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Lincoln County Home Health & Hospice and/or to New Grove Baptist Church.
