David Walls Payne, 77, of Valley Lane, Prospect, Tennessee, died Sunday, February 23, 2003, at South Hampton Nursing Home in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama. Graveside Services were held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Gatlin Cemetery with Bro. Robert Fudge and Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in Charge. Mr. Payne was born in Madison County, Alabama on May 3, 1925 to the late Joe Edd and Bertie Lou Mitchell Payne. Mr. Payne was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Payne. Survivors include one daughter, Diane Payne Cordell of Rockford, Illinoise; one Brother, Charles Payne of Huntsville, Alabama; four sisters, Anna Bell Hughes, Edna Mae Thomas, and Linda Sue Valentine, all of Tampa, Florida, and Blanche Franklin of Huntsville, Alabama; and several grandchildren.
