Charles Mayland Murks, 65, of Wooley Springs Road, Athens, Alabama, died Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at Huntsville Hospital. Funeral Services were held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 25, 2004, at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Sammy Brister officiating. Burial was in Ford's Chapel Cemetery in Harvest, Alabama, with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.Mr. Murks was born on May 18, 1939, in Lexington, Alabama, to Dillard Murks and Helen Perlene Jones. He was a member of Ford's Chapel Methodist Church and was retired from the maintenance department of Teledyne Wah Chang. He loved traveling and spending time with his family and friends; he never met a stranger. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his father, Dillard Murks, his step-mother, Lillian Pettus Murks, and a sister, Joyce Summerford. Survivors include one son, Charles (renee) Murks of Athens, Alabama; his mother, Helen Wallace of Leoma, Tennessee; a step-father, Danny Wallace of Leoma, Tennessee; a very special friend, Lynda Elledge of Harvest, Alabama; one sister, Patricia (Kenneth) Richardson of Tuscumbia, Alabama; two nieces, Kathy (Bill) Ezell and Libby (Jeff) Wright, both of Killen, Alabama; two nephews, Scott Richardson of Tuscumbia, Alabama, and Anthony Murks of Huntsville, Alabama; and a host of family and friends.
