Obituary for Cecil Milton Smith

Cecil Milton Smith, 85, of Tut-Fann Veterans Home, Huntsville, AL, died Thursday, April 20, 2006, at Tut-Fann Veterans Home.Funeral Services were held Saturday, April 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sammy Brister, Rev. William Suddarth and Rev. Billy Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were nephews.Cecil Milton Smith was born May 2, 1920 in Ardmore, AL, to Floyd Wayne Smith and Effie Hicklen Smith. He lived all his life in this area. He was a member of Ardmore First Baptist Church and a Veteran of World War II having served in the Army. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Bailey Smith; a brother, T.C. Smith; a sister, Irene Hargrove; and a grandson, Bernie Hicklen.Survivors include his wife, Eris Smith of Cash Point, TN; one son, Gearil (Nellie) Smith of Ardmore, AL; daughter Shirley (Jim) Phillips of Ardmore, AL; granddaughter-in-law, Vickie Hicklen Eaves of Ardmore, AL; two brothers, Robert Smith and Kayo Smith, both of Ardmore, AL; one sister, Mary Fogg of Ardmore, AL; two grandchildren, Tim (Cathy) Smith and Kim (Butch) Sutton; two great-grandchildren, Kyle Smith and Kristen Gatlin; two step-great-granddaughters, Betsy and Catherine Taylor.
