Obituary for Carolyn Rebecca Bryant

Carolyn Rebecca Bryant, 54, of elkton, TN, passed away Sunday, March 24, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born in Quincy, Florida, June 26, 1964, to Richard Mabry Bryant, Jr., and Mary Louise Brevelle Bryant. Rebecca is predeceased by her grandparents, Richard Mabry and Frances Elizabeth Bryant of Branford, FL. and Anthony Joseph and Mary Rebecca Brevelle of Butler, AL. She is also predeceased by her nephew, Aaron Singley, of Middleburg, FL, Rebecca is survived by her son, Johnathan Pruett of Powder Springs, GA, by her mother and stepfather, Mary and John Cribbs of Ardmore, TN, her father, Richard Bryant of Branford, FL, her sister, Mary Elizabeth Singley (Jimmy) of Middleburg, FL, her step-sister, Diana Burns (Mickey) of Keystone Height's, Fl, her step-brother, Michael Cribbs (Tina) of Ft. Myers, FL, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her close and devoted companion, David VanDyke of Columbia, TN. She will be missed by her two feline housemates, Kat and Domino.

Rebecca attended Cobb County, GA Schools, graduated from Wills High in Smyrna, GA and from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. She was employed by various industrial firms in marketing and customer service until her failing health forced her into early retirement, at which time she moved to Elkton, TN. She became active in the Elkton Historical Society, a member of DAR, and in 2018 was elected Alderman on the Elkton City Council.

She enjoyed reading, cooking, walking in the woods, following the Nashville Predators, and improving her skill in newly-acquired activity: knitting. She was of the Episcopal Faith.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 26, 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., at the Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home.There will be a private burial at Boswell Cemetery on the Cribbs farm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Rebecca's name to the Elkton Fire & Rescue Squad, the Ardmore Public Library, or to a charity of your choice.
