Obituary for Carlos Ray Bates

Carlos Ray Bates, 62, of Hanna Road, Prospect, Tennessee, died Friday, March 12, 2004, at Columbia Hillside Hospital in Pulaski, Tennessee. Funeral Services were held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Wade West, Bro. Frankie Murphy, abd Bro. Buddy Payne officiating. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Terry McDonald, Mark Yarbrough, Dale Hanks, Edward Pardon, Howard Woolard, and Michael Eaves.Mr. Bates was born on November 8, 1941, in Falkville, Alabama, to William Eugene Bates and Myrtle Lee Austin Bates. He worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Pulaski Pentecostal Church. He was a veteran of the U.S Air Force and was preceded in death by his parents, a son, James Carlos Bates, and a brother, James Bates. He was a member of the Echota Cherokee Tribe of Alabama. Survivors include: his wife, Betty Ann Bates of Prospect, Tennessee; one son, Chris Bates of Prospect, Tennessee; one daughter, Tanya Morris of Prospect, Tennessee; a foster daughter, Cindy Letson; a foster son, A.J. Huff of Prospect, Tennessee; three brothers, Jo Glenn Bates and William Eugene Bates both of Tampa, Florida, and Elbert Bates of Dothan, Alabama; two sisters, Oline Furniss of Dothan, Alabama, and Carolyn Eaves of Huntsville, Alabama; and 5 grandchildren.
