Obituary for Bradley Clay Self

Bradley Clay Self, 89, of Whitfield Drive, Athens, AL, formerly of the Jennings Chapel Community, died Friday, September 12, 2008, at his residence. Funeral Services were held Monday, September 15, at 11 a.m. at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Clutts and Rev. John Crawford officiating. Burial was in the Shady Grove Cemetery in Toney, AL with Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Tim Self, Bradley Self, Tim Powers, Steve Powers, Doug Blakely and David Woodis. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County, 405 N. Marion Street, Athens, AL 35611Bradley Clay Self was born October 7, 1918 in Harvest, AL, to James Paul Self and Ollie Jane Freeman Self. He lived all his life in this area. Mr. Self was a member of the Concord Baptist Church and was retired from Teledyne Wah-Chang as a foreman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Pope Self; son, Phillip Lynn Self; and granddaughter, Danielle Self. Survivors include sons, Allen Self and wife Hanni of Madison, AL, Bill Self of Huntsville, AL, Jerry Self and wife Jan of Florence, AL; daughters, Frances Mansel and husband Cliff of Athens, AL, Jane Paysinger and husband Bobby of Athens, AL, and Ramona Evans and husband Dennis of Cullman, AL; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one very special step-grandson, Tim Powers.
