Obituary for Bennie Howard Wales

Bennie Howard Wales, 88, of 3rd Avenue, Ardmore, Alabama, died Friday, May 28, 2004, at Limestone Health Care Facility in Athens, Alabama.Funeral Services were held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Sammy Brister and Rev. William Suddarth officiating. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Ardmore Memorial Funeral HOme in charge. Pallbearers were Floyd Smith, Ray Wales, Odie Dugger, Buddy Dugger, Mike Magnusson, and J.O. Wallace.Mr. Wales was born in Limestone County, Alabama, on September 7, 1915, to James Roy Wales and Bethie Gates Wales. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was an active Deacon and served as custodian for many years. He was a veteran of WWII, where he was a technician with the 238th Combat Engineers. He was a member of the American Legions and loved fishing and anything outdoors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dellie Mae Elliott Wales.Survivors include one daughter, Patricia (Bill) Black of Elkmont, Alabama; one brother, Linzie Wales of Elkmont, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
